A report launch site, built in two weeks, that became USGLC’s most-visited page
The most-visited page on the USGLC site; further work with USGLC
The short version
I led UX, UI and interaction design on a two-week schedule from brief to launch. USGLC was releasing the report with Politico, so the link would land in 200,000 inboxes and across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and publication feeds on day one.
With COVID-19 ruling out a launch event, the site had to do the event's job: hold attention, move readers through the report, and make USGLC's case.
The problem
USGLC asked Edelman to design and build a microsite to launch its 2021 Report on Reports, drive downloads of the PDF and stream the panel discussion with Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor to President Biden.
How can USGLC release its yearly Report on Reports so that members and stakeholders spend real time with it and come away trusting USGLC on the subject?
What the business needed
- Complement the visual design of the PDF report.
- Go further visually than the current website.
- Attract potential members and show USGLC’s authority on the subject.
- Host video content from the live panel and discussion with Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor.
How I worked
We designed and built a visual microsite, with parallax and light animation that kept readers moving through the report.
What I did
- Information architecture
- Wireframes
- Visual design
- Interaction design
- Content strategy
- Photography sourcing
- Client presentation
Key design decisions
Section navigation lets readers move between the parts of the report without long scrolls.
Clear paths lead readers on to the fact sheets and the full PDF report.
Results
The microsite launched with the 2021 Report on Reports and became the most-visited page on the USGLC website. It led to further work with USGLC.
